This technique is especially beneficial to coarse and low porosity hair types. ![]() This method helps hair to absorb the product and hydration applied. We do this a couple of times then we can proceed to rinse off the conditioner. Squish to Condish is also known as STC and S2C, and we should use it when conditioning our hair. It’s known for bringing lots of hydration and helps with clump/curl formation. This technique has been around for a while. Then we will need to put our hair inside the bowl and proceed with the same squishing/pulsing method but with the water coming from inside the bowl. Squish to Condish is a product application technique that employs conditioner to help the water penetrate the hair better. With the Bowl Method, after we have applied the conditioner to our hair, we need to take a bowl and fill it with water. After that, we can rinse the rest of the conditioner. We proceed to do this a couple of times until we see there is almost no conditioner left. Finally, cupping your hair inside your hands filled with water, we squish our hair. After that, we collect the running water from the shower with our hands. The original method consists of applying the conditioner to the hair and letting the conditioner act for a couple of minutes. Then, I turn on the shower and quickly (literally for less than a second) run the shower head over the top (technically back since my head is tilted) of my head and let the water run down the lengths of my hair. (I found this while going to the first YouTube posts about STC, not sure if this info is 100% accurate as I couldn’t find anything else before her). What I do is put the conditioner everywhere, detangle, then scrunch a bit all with my head tilted upside down. ![]() The initial method was different from these. *It is worth mentioning that this technique was first applied in a hair salon by a hairstylist called Melissa Stites. There are different ways you can do this technique, but these two are the most common ones. I've watched YouTube videos on how to finger-coil, but many of these videos skip over the wash and styling, so I can't tell if they did squish to condish and if they combed their hair again post-wash but pre-style.Squish to Condish is a product application technique that employs conditioner to help the water penetrate the hair better. I'd love to know if people who have successfully done finger coiling do squish to condish and if they comb their hair again after it pre-styling products. But I struggled because I had to separate out the hairs to do so (maybe breaking up the curl clumps in the process?) - I'm wondering, is that because of squish to condish? Does squish to condish prematurely create curl clups, which then have to be broken up to do finger coiling at the top? Or should I be combing my hair again to section it once I come out of the shower and before I apply the styling gel? So, I tried to finger-coil the top of my hair, after I applied and distributed my styling products. My curly hair routine (Indian) - From washing and conditioning (squish to condish) to applying styling products (by scrunching) to curly hair. How to diffuse. And to be honest, if I also add a leave-in conditioner (which I've recently started to do), then the whole "don't rinse out all of the rinse out conditioner" rule doesn't really make sense to me, especially as my rinse out and leave-in are the same (garnier banana hair food). Hi, I have 2b/2c wavy hair and all this time I've been doing squish to condish to apply my rinse out conditioner, so I do praying hands to apply my conditioner and then, after detangling, I take cups of water in my hand and squish my hair with it (so don't put hair under shower again to rinse out).īut now I'm starting to wonder if it would be better for me to just rinse out under the shower instead of doing all these squishes? Because to distribute my styling product, I squish it anyway (after applying via praying hands).
