The Guilty Gear Strive Beta was my for foray into the Guilty Gear universe and it was an intense baptism of fire. My personal bar for fighting games is simple, can I do an Haduken motion and do an attack? If yes then I proceed to mash all my Streetfighter moves into the game. It’s sad but true, I don’t get that invested in fighting games as I think I’m doing alright then I go online and I get absolutely destroyed. Guilty Gear I always thought was more Blazblue than Streetfighter in terms of being more like a technical fighter rather than an arcade brawler. I was wrong and so wrong, despite big hulky characters, Guilty Gear not only runs lightning fast but it is also kinda easy to pick up and play. OK so you won’t be busting any huge combos or taking on the world’s elite at EVO but you can certainly put up a fight. Button mashing is not the best strategy but it is a strategy and one that got me through arcade mode a lot. What I really loved about Strive though is the presentation from intros to character interactions to all the over-the-top bombastic attacks. It’s a feel-good game only amplified by a powerful rock soundtrack. I may never git gud but I will always have fun and enjoy my time. Evo guilty gear player got up series#Īs said this is technically my first Guilty Gear so apologies if this is a series thing but the story mode is basically a straight-up film. ![]() Grab popcorn press play and sit back and I really liked that approach.
